Baby Safari language CDs

I've come across this site where they are selling these language CDs for babies, http://www.babysafari.us. These CDs contain recordings of words and phrases in 25 different languages (by native speakers, of course). The point is not teaching the baby 25 languages, that's nearly impossible, but teaching him/her the sounds in all those languages. So, when the baby grows up he/she can pick any of these languages and have a perfect pronunciation. What do you think?

It sounds like babbling with a purpose.  It certainly can't hurt.

I don't know. Having bilingual children is one thing but having them learen 25 different type of languages… or the pronunciation of it… seems a bit far-fetched :D

It might be interesting to hear from a few parents who have used the method successfully.

Hello, what I recommend for children under 4 years is Pocoyo, they speak to clear. After this, Caillou, Peppa Pig and Barrio Sesamo.

All Disney movies donwload in Spanish version.

This is a great topic IMO. Ultimately you will need more than CDs to teach a whole new language. The important thing to keep in mind is the child will give the target language as much status as you give it. If your child is exposed to the language through DVDs (programs such as Readingamigo.com for learning Spanish), TV programs, Books, Family members, Play mates, Board Games, Video games, Apps, etc. It is a safe bet that the child will recognize the importance of the language in their life and therefore learn it. If the target language is seen as a passing fad by the child, then they are likely to value it only for entertainment purposes, and that interest is usually fleeting.
Along those same lines, it is beneficial to take an interest in the cultures related to a particular language. Language can be very dry by itself, but by adding the spice of culture, whole new worlds can be opened for the child all the while raising the status of the target language.

This is not unlike the way we discipline our children. If we only mention it once, in passing, that the child should not play in the street then the child will think it's not a big deal that he plays on the street, both of these scenarios can have a negative impact.

The real question becomes can you allocate enough time to do 25 languages? Is that an important enough goal in your life?
