Language Challenge 180: Week 10 Giveaway

by Corey · 31 comments

Multilingual Living is delighted to announce our next Language Challenge 180 giveaway prize: a free month of access to Speekee TV! This giveaway is only for Language Challenge 180 participants and will only be open for 6 days, so enter today!

Don’t forget that last week’s giveaway for the book Diary of a Bilingual School is still open!

As many of you know, my family and I really like the Spanish language learning program Speekee. I’ve raved about it many times (see a video of me talking about it during Language Challenge 101 – Week Thirteen). For a long time, many of us couldn’t use Speekee because we didn’t have region-free DVDs that could play the PAL format. However, that time is over!

Speekee is now available via Speekee TV! You can view each and every one of the Speekee episodes online at your convenience anywhere in the world as long as you have internet connection. Plus, there are print-outs available for each episode which you can use with your children to enhance their language skills even more. What could be better than this?

As part of Language Challenge 180, Multilingual Living is giving away 1 month of access to Speekee TV! It would be a fantastic choice for your children’s Language Challenge 180 Spanish learning since it consists of 100% Spanish immersion with a ton of context. Speekee, the main puppet, is fascinating for children and the dialogs and discussions are between real, live native-speaking children living in Spain. What could be better?

To learn more about Speekee, check out the Speekee website. If you are a teacher, you might be interested in the educational version of Speekee which is perfect for classroom use!

Hello. I would like to win one month of Speekee TV because my daughter has been attending a Spanish only day care since she was six weeks old. Now, she’s almost three and she understands everything in Spanish. But, because I don’t speak any Spanish, I’ve never even taken a class, she doesn’t get to practice it at home. She refuses to speak to me in Spanish and looks at me very funny when I try. I would like to encourage her and ME to work on Spanish even when she’s at home. Thanks for this opportunity.

I have studied Spanish for around a year, and I want my children to learn Spanish, but obviously, they need more than a struggling, beginning student to teach them! I am sure they would pick up a lot of Spanish quickly from this program!

I would love to give my son more exposure to authentic materials in Spanish. Too many of the Spanish children’s books in our library are simply translations of children’s books that were originally in English. Rarely do we see juvenile literature written from a Spanish speaking cultural perspective. It sounds like Speekee would be authentically Spanish. Thanks for offering it.

It would be fun to expose the grandchildren to Spanish. Currently they are exposed when watching Diego and Dora.

I would love to win a free month of Speekee because, much as I find the programme extremely annoying, my six year old son loves what he has seen of it and I think his Spanish would flourish! 🙂

I would use this programme to encourage my stubborn 8 year old to learn spanish. I wanted to do all the things i do with my younger but lacked `the confidence and now resists learning spanish. he is embarrsed about its use outside of the home or in front of his peers. He also does not like traditional learning methods i.e using a text book. this method seems like fun, its something both my kids can use and eatch and then we could tackle the worksheets after.

As summer approaches, I am looking for activities for my daughters to reinforce the Spanish that they have learned at their respective schools (Spanish only daycare and extra-curricular activities in Elementary school). We moved to Texas last summer and almost broke a record of consecutive 100 degree days. We are looking for indoor activities this summer.

As a French major, I took one semester of Spanish in college, but that was all I had time for. I wish I could have taken more. I loved it. My son has taken Spanish in preschool, so it would be fun for us to watch Speekee together.

I’d love to use the access to SpeeKee TV. My husband is from Spain, and we’ve been trying to teach our kids as much Spanish as possible, but we’re struggling to get them truly interested.

17 Eduardo Moreno May 13, 2012 at 7:03 pm

Because in South Korea it’s quite difficult to find good materials for teaching Spanish to young children.

18 Wendy May 13, 2012 at 11:53 pm

Since my Spanish from high school is very rusty, I need help teaching my two 7-year-olds Spanish. I’ve been looking for a program that will engage them, and Speekee TV sounds like an activity we’d all enjoy watching together.

19 Mikayla May 14, 2012 at 8:21 am

My sister is learning Spanish. Today is her last day of school. One free month of SpeeKee would give her a way to keep getting Spanish Comprehensible Input over the summer in an engaging way.

20 Rachel May 14, 2012 at 3:19 pm

We plan to refresh our Spanish this next year. We’ve not used it since we left Spain and the kids haven’t heard it.We’ve been focusung on German which is my better language.

I would love to win a month of Speekee, because our whole family is trying to learn Spanish. Only one daughter is in an immersion school, the other one gets 40 minutes per WEEK of Spanish in school, which is obviously not enough! We have to work at it to keep up with our 8 year old’s language learning!
