Mi Vida Loca with Students
I forgot to mention in the video diary that a fabulous thing happened this week. I wrote a tweet about how my kids and I were just about to do the next episode of Mi Vida Loca. To my great surprise and delight, a Spanish teacher sent back a tweet asking if the students in his class (who are also using Mi Vida Loca to learn Spanish) could write to me and if I would respond to them. My answer was a resounding YES!
I can’t wait to see how this all pans out. It is a fabulous idea and I am certain it will keep us all motivated. I’ll include some more about this in future posts and video diaries.
I have also been in contact with a woman via twitter who wants to exchange language practice: she could practice her German with me and I could practice my Spanish with her. I love this kind of connection and creativity in learning languages! She and I have sent a few tweets back and forth but we haven’t set up anything regularly yet. Who know where this will go but the motivation and support that it provides from cyberspace is so fantastic! It got me very excited about Spanish each time we chatted.
If you feel like working with me to help get your students/children/yourself motivated (via videos or letters or whatnot in Spanish or German or even French, Latin, Ancient Greek or Modern Greek) I’m all for it! Just contact me via email, Twitter or Facebook and let’s see what makes most sense. I’m all for finding inspiring ways to keep languages alive and am delighted to do what I can to help!
Time to Celebrate
That’s about it for this week. My husband and I have broken out the bubbly and are starting the celebrations… watch the video diary to find out why. It has nothing to do with Spanish language learning but shows what a non-native English speaker (my German husband) can accomplish given enough time and effort. I am extremely proud of him and so very happy.
Happy language learning! Thank you everyone for your encouragement and support! When the libraries open up again (they are closed this week due to funding cuts) the kids and I are going to attend a Spanish language story time. Maybe they will even let me video tape it? We’ll see!
