Welcome to week eight of Multilingual Living’s Language Challenge 101 – learning a language over the course of 101 days. If you missed our first few weeks, just click on the Language Challenge 101 button on the very left of this website page and you’ll find everything we have done so far.
This is a quick video diary this week. Watch it to find out what we did all week to learn Spanish and why we are celebrating!
Mi Vida Loca
All week long my kids and I did the Mi Vida Loca Spanish language learning program. Not only were my husband and I excited to use this free program day after day this week, I got a good yelling at from my kids if I didn’t call them before I turned on each episode.
One evening my husband and I even practiced a few transcripts together before bed (they can be printed out for each episode). It was so much fun!
Thank you Maria and Chris for sharing this great resource with us! We are addicted! I think I’m going to cry when we get to the end.
The only part that I have a hard time with is the different pronunciation (until now we have primarily been learning Latin American Spanish pronunciation). Mi Vida Loca is set in Spain and so the program teaches that pronunciation. It is hard for me to get the “th” sound down instead of the “s” sound. My pronunciation ends up sounding like I have a horrible lisp (yes, I mean horrible) all the time. It serves for a great laugh between my husband and me when we try to speak with one another (I’m sure you can imagine). Sometimes we laugh so hard we both end up in tears. A great way to learn Spanish AND let off the day’s tension – I highly recommend it.
